Hudson Community Health and Resource Center – Tutoring Program
Program Overview
Welcome to our tutoring program! This is our first year offering academic support to students in the Hudson community, and we’re thrilled to have you join us. Whether you're tutoring in person or virtually, your role is essential in helping students build confidence and improve their skills.
Format Options
Tutoring is offered in two formats:
- In-Person at the Resource Center
- Virtual via Zoom Tutors may choose the format that works best for them and their students. Hybrid options (a mix of both) are also available based on scheduling and student needs.
Subjects Offered
Tutors will support students in:
- Math: Arithmetic, fractions, decimals, pre-algebra, algebra
- Reading/ELA: Comprehension, fluency, vocabulary, grammar, writing structure
Additional subjects may be added as the program grows.
Tutor Expectations
Tutors are expected to:
- Commit to 1–2 hours per week (flexible scheduling)
- Work with students one-on-one or in small groups
- Be punctual and prepared for each session
- Create a positive, respectful, and encouraging environment
- Use provided materials or bring their own resources
- Communicate with the coordinator about student progress or concerns
- Maintain confidentiality and uphold professional boundaries
Support Provided
- Orientation and basic tutor training
- Access to worksheets, books, and learning tools
- Ongoing support from the program coordinator
Ideal Tutor Qualities
- Patient, dependable, and enthusiastic
- Comfortable working with youth and diverse learners
- No formal teaching experience required, just a willingness to help!
