Volunteer Fundraising & Development — Investigative Healthcare Docu-Series

Polaris is a Colorado nonprofit producing a six-episode investigative documentary series examining the U.S. healthcare system and spotlighting the people, ideas, and solutions capable of building something better.

The series is designed not only to expose what isn’t working, but to call forward the builders, funders, innovators, and supporters ready to help create the future of healthcare.

We’re currently in an ambitious fundraising chapter to bring this mission to life, and we’re looking for skilled, mission-driven volunteers to join our fundraising and development efforts and help us reach our near-term production goals.

This is an opportunity to play a meaningful role in getting an impact-driven documentary series off the ground. Volunteers who make a significant contribution to securing funding for the series will receive an Executive Producer credit, with the project being developed for major distribution and pre-screening events.

What You’ll Do

• Research and identify foundations, family offices, individual donors, corporate sponsors, and grant opportunities aligned with healthcare, systems change, social innovation and impact, documentary and media, and economic opportunity.
• Help build and maintain a strong funder prospect pipeline, tracking alignment, relationships, requirements, deadlines, and next steps.
• Identify the strongest opportunities for outreach and help prioritize where our team should focus its fundraising efforts.
• Help assemble, organize, and strengthen the materials funders request in partnership with our team.
• Tailor our core story, messaging, and funding requests to individual funders and their priorities.
• Support outreach, Letters of Inquiry, grant applications, sponsorship opportunities, and other development efforts based on your experience and interests.
• Help us think creatively about new pathways to funding and strategic partnerships.

Who We’re Looking For

• Experience in fundraising, development, philanthropy, grant writing, donor research, partnerships, or nonprofit work is a plus, but not required if you’re motivated to learn, take initiative, and grow quickly.
• Someone who can take a big, complex mission and communicate it clearly and compellingly.
• Strong research, writing, organization, and communication skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and the ability to stay on top of deadlines and follow-through.
• Self-directed, reliable, and comfortable collaborating remotely.
• Someone energized by mission-driven work and the opportunity to help build something from the ground up.

Bonus: Familiarity with philanthropy, healthcare, documentary or media funding, impact investing, corporate sponsorships, or nonprofit development.

• Fully remote with flexible hours.
• Approximately 3–8 hours per week, with workload varying around funding deadlines and opportunities.
• Ongoing opportunity, with room to take on greater responsibility or grow into a lead fundraising/development role as the project scales.
• You’ll work directly with the founder and core team, giving you meaningful ownership, tangible experie
