Polycreek is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization developing artificial intelligence technology to help protect children online.

Our work focuses on building tools that help detect and respond to online harms including grooming, child sexual exploitation, sextortion, bullying, and other forms of abuse.

As Polycreek continues to grow its technology, partnerships, and impact, we are expanding our Board of Directors with individuals who can bring practical experience from the Trust & Safety field and help ensure our work reflects the realities faced by online platforms and safety teams.

About the Role

Polycreek is seeking a Volunteer Board Member with significant Trust & Safety experience to join our Board of Directors.

We are particularly interested in someone who has worked within or alongside the Trust & Safety function of an online platform, technology company, social network, gaming platform, marketplace, messaging service, or similar digital environment.

This Board member will serve as an important subject matter resource as Polycreek develops technology intended for use by platforms and Trust & Safety teams. You will help us understand how safety programs operate in practice, where current tools and processes fall short, and how Polycreek can build technology that meaningfully supports investigators, moderators, analysts, and platform leaders.

This is a governance and advisory role rather than an operational Trust & Safety position.

Key Areas of Contribution

As a member of Polycreek's Board of Directors, you may help:

• Provide subject matter expertise on Trust & Safety operations, workflows, and industry practices.
• Advise on how Polycreek's technology can integrate into real-world platform safety environments.
• Provide feedback on product concepts, including tools for detecting grooming, exploitation, sextortion, bullying, and other online harms.
• Help evaluate how AI-generated signals should be presented to moderators, investigators, and other human decision-makers.
• Advise on moderation workflows, escalation pathways, case management, and investigation processes.
• Provide perspective on balancing detection sensitivity, false positives, user safety, privacy, and operational burden.
• Advise on child-safety escalation and reporting processes, including situations involving potential child sexual exploitation.
• Help Polycreek understand the needs of Trust & Safety leaders, frontline moderators, investigators, and platform operators.
• Provide insight into emerging online harms, abuse patterns, adversarial behavior, and Trust & Safety challenges.
• Support the development of responsible policies and safeguards around the use of AI in safety decision-making.
• Help identify potential partnerships and opportunities for collaboration within the Trust & Safety ecosystem.
• Participate in broader Board discussions involving strategy, organizational governance, risk, partnerships, and long-term sustainability.

Experience working directly for a major technology platform is valuable but not required. We also welcome individuals who have worked with smaller platforms, Trust & Safety vendors, nonprofit organizations, safety technology companies, consulting organizations, or other organizations with substantial online-safety responsibilities.

What We Are Looking For

Strong candidates will bring:

• Meaningful professional experience in Trust & Safety or a closely related field.
• An understanding of how online platforms identify, investigate, escalate, and respond to harmful behavior.
• Familiarity with the operational realities faced by Trust & Safety teams, including scale, false positives, reviewer workload, escalation, and competing risk considerations.
• An ability to translate industry experience into strategic guidance for both technical and nontechnical Board members.
• Interest in responsible AI and the use of machine learning to support online-safety work.
• A commitment to Polycreek's mission of protecting children from online abuse and exploitation.
• Sound judgment and a willingness to challenge assumptions, ask difficult questions, and provide candid feedback.

Previous nonprofit Board experience is helpful but not required. We are more interested in finding someone who brings strong, practical Trust & Safety expertise and is interested in applying that experience at the governance level.

Board Member Expectations

Board members are expected to:

• Attend scheduled Board meetings remotely.
• Review relevant materials before meetings.
• Participate actively in Board discussions and organizational decision-making.
• Provide expertise and guidance between meetings when appropriate.
• Serve as an ambassador for Polycreek and its mission.
• Fulfill the fiduciary and governance responsibilities associated with nonprofit Board service.

This is a volunteer, unpaid Board position.
