    General Volunteer: Program Asst. - Greensboro

    Position Title: General Volunteer: Program Asst. - Greensboro

    General Description: This position supports the Reading Connection's Literacy Program Team. Responsibilities include: Assisting Reading Connections Program Coordinators and general office staff with program services, student recruitment, assessments, administrative activities, program projects, collecting data, maintaining resource room materials, filing, mailings, shredding, copying, assist with community outreach events and more. You will get non-profit office experience!

    Responsibilities may also include:

    • Assists with community out reach events
    • Assists with book drives and fundraising events
    • Updating databases, labeling and sorting
    • Assists students with completing paperwork
    • Scheduling appointments and student follow-up
    • Upkeep of Free Little Libraries
    • Experience with Google Docs & Google Sheets and/or MS Word & Excel

    Instructions:

    Key Responsibilities

    ● Support student recruitment, assessment, and tutor training preparation.

    ● Provide assistance to students and instructors through phone, email, WhatsApp, and in-person interactions.

    ● Assist staff with administrative tasks including copying, filing, preparing testing materials, shredding, and distributing communications.

    ● Help maintain accurate physical and digital program files.

    ● Represent the organization at volunteer fairs, community events, and other outreach opportunities.

    Qualifications – Ideal Candidate

    ● Passionate about adult education, literacy, and community empowerment.

    ● Professional, reliable, and able to represent the organization positively in the office and at public events.

    ● Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to connect well with diverse staff, students, and volunteers.

    ● Capable of working independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment.

    ● Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities with accuracy and timeliness.

    ● Strong organizational and time-management skills.

    ● Intermediate computer skills; familiarity with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Google Suite preferred.
