    Description

    Women's Shelter Activities Lead

Support Women in Minneapolis as They Overcome Barriers to Housing

At The Valiance, Agate’s Women’s Shelter in south Minneapolis, we provide 24-7, long-stay shelter where up to 64 guests have a safe place to eat, sleep, relax, and work with Agate staff to overcome barriers to housing. Learn more about Agate at www.agatemn.org and learn more about the Valiance shelter at www.agatemn.org/valiance.

As a volunteer, you can be part of the team that makes The Valiance a welcoming, comforting place where the women we serve feel safe and respected.

    Participation Requirements:

    • Lead activities independently
    • Interview with Agate team member(s)
    • Age 18+ years
    • Compassion, empathy, and patience for all human beings, regardless of housing status, mental health, or chemical health
    • Orientation and Training by Agate staff
    • Can’t have been an Agate program participant for the past 2 years

    What will volunteers do?

Lead and join residents in music, games, art, puzzles, dance and other fun activities.

    Volunteers needed on:

    • Saturdays from 1:00 to 2:30 PM
    • Tuesdays from 6:30 to 8:00 PM

What will volunteers need to bring or wear?

Depends on what activity you plan to lead! This is about bringing your skills, passion and talents to the shelter to benefit and entertain the guests. Bring your keyboard and lead an evening of songs, lead an afternoon of doing jigsaw puzzles, host a game night or a movie night with popcorn! Reach out with your skills or ideas, and let's talk.

For what to wear - the shelter is always casual. Please refrain from offensive clothing.
