9/11 Day of Service: Get Uptown Stories Ready for a New School Year
Join the Uptown Stories community as we prepare for a year of free after-school LEAPS creative-writing programming in Upper Manhattan Title I public schools.
Uptown Stories helps young people find their voices, build community, and see themselves as writers. Before our programs begin, we need a team of volunteers to help us get our community space and supplies ready for a new year of writing and connection.
Volunteers will:
- Sort and organize classroom and program supplies
- Write encouraging affirmations and correspondence to our student writers
- Help tidy and organize the Uptown Stories community space
- Support other light preparation tasks as needed
This is a great opportunity to contribute to a youth-serving organization and help set the stage for a year of creativity, connection, and learning.
Please note: This project is not student-facing. Volunteers will not work directly with students during this service project.
No creative-writing experience is required—just a willingness to pitch in and help us prepare!
