    Reports To: Executive Director

Location: Remote (U.S.-based, open to any time zone)

Time Commitment: 5–10 hrs per month (minimum 2 months) – flexible schedule

    What We Need

We’re looking for a tech‑savvy volunteer who can:

    • Reconcile donor & engagement data
      • Build and maintain automated workflows that pull donor lists from GiveButter and social platforms, match them with Action Network contacts, and update both systems in near‑real time.
    • Secure document migration
      • Move legacy files (PDFs, spreadsheets, PDFs, images, etc.) to a secure storage platform (e.g., Proton Drive, CryptPad or other recommendations) and set up appropriate sharing & retention policies.
    • Automation stack
      • Use freely‑available integration tools (Zapier, Make.com, Integromat, n8n) or custom scripting (Python, JavaScript) to automate repetitive tasks and create dashboards.
    • Basic Info‑Security
      • Apply encryption best practices, audit file permissions, and set up secure back‑ups.

    Who You Are

Technical proficiency: Comfortable with APIs, scripting, and/or low‑code automation tools. Prior experience with Zapier or similar is a plus.

Security‑mindset: Understanding of basic information‑security principles (confidentiality, integrity, availability) and data‑privacy regulations (GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA‑like contexts for donors).

Problem‑solver: Able to troubleshoot errors, debug scripts, and iterate on processes.

Collaborator: Communicates clearly with a small team (fully remote). Comfortable using Slack, Google Workspace, and email to coordinate work.

Passion: Values nonprofit mission and is motivated to help amplify impact through better tech hygiene.

Availability: At least 5 hrs per month. Can commit for a minimum of 2 months.

    What You’ll Gain

Tech Portfolio: Real‑world automation & security projects that you can showcase to employers.

Nonprofit Insight: Understanding of donor‑management workflows and how tech supports mission‑driven work.

Networking: Connections with our board and volunteers; possible future opportunities or references; the community and support that comes from being a part of a visionary, reform-driven conservation team.

Flexible Schedule and Learning: Choose which tools you’re comfortable with; we’ll provide an onboarding memo and support when needed.

Recognition: We’re happy to provide letters of recommendation, LinkedIn endorsements, and other useful support. You’ll also receive enduring gratitude from a growing movement to protect wildlife!
