It takes a lot to leave an abuser -- Courage. Planning. Resources. Help.
Assist victims fleeing from their abusers by driving them to safety! We ONLY allow our volunteers to pick-up survivors in a safe public place, usually in Houston. Volunteer safety is our #1 priority.
You choose the distance you're willing to travel - whether across town or across the country - and Families to Freedom handles the rest.
We get calls for service every day from survivors trying to start a new life, but without volunteer drivers we can only honor a few. Drivers like you are needed!
In case you are wondering--
Time Commitment: You decide! It could be a few hours, or up to a few days. It all depends on the trip length and what you are up for.
Requirements: Must be 21+, have a smartphone, pass a background check, and have a heart to help. <3
FAQ: Transporting a survivor travelling with children? We prepare the carseat for you. Worried about the cost of gas, tolls, food and lodging? We pay it. Don't want to use your personal car? Use one of ours. Not sure you'll be up for a trip when one comes along? Decline any drive you wish with no pressure from us.

How to Volunteer for This Opportunity
1) Fill out the application form at familiestofreedom.org/volunteer.
2) We contact you about scheduling an orientation phone call.
3) After orientation, we coordinate a time for you to complete training (either in-person or virtual, at your request).
4) You drive survivors to safety, and towards a new life.
