    About the Role

    We are seeking a proactive, strategic-minded Director of Budgeting & Finance to lead our accounting department during our intensive summer cohort. You will ensure our organization's financial health and transparency while executing a targeted $9,000 fundraising strategy. This role offers hands-on leadership experience in nonprofit financial management, grant writing, and campaign execution.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Financial Strategy & Oversight: Develop financial models to track the department's operations, ensuring high standards of transparency and compliance.
    • Fundraising Campaign Execution: Lead the 1-Year Fundraising Strategy totaling $9,000, which includes:
      • Grants: Research and submit 2–3 high-impact grants (Community Benefit, Local Foundations, and STEM/Healthcare Pipeline).
      • Donations: Oversee the Sponsor a Future Healthcare Leader, Giving Tuesday, and Spring Awareness campaigns.
      • Corporate Sponsorships: Pitch tiered partnership packages to healthcare and education companies.
    • Team Leadership: Motivate and collaborate with a small cohort of student interns to achieve departmental goals.

    Qualifications

    • Education: Currently pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in Finance, Accounting, Public Health, Healthcare Administration, or related fields.
    • Analytical Skills: Proficiency in financial data interpretation, Microsoft Excel, and basic financial modeling.
    • Leadership: Strong interpersonal and communication skills to manage and guide team members.
    • Passion: An interest in healthcare equity, nonprofit sustainability, and continuous learning.

    Note: The candidate and supervisor will work with the university's academic department to fulfill internship requirements for credit.

    What You'll Do

    • Financial Management: Maintain internal financial integrity, process tracking, and accurate reporting to achieve our $9,000 annual revenue goal.
    • Strategy Implementation: Allocate resources across our three core fundraising pillars:
      • Community & STEM Foundation Grants
      • Digital Donation Campaigns
      • Corporate Sponsorship Outreach
    • Leadership & Mentorship: Guide junior members of the finance team through the summer cohort period (June 5 to August 10) and participate in our final Symposium on August 15–16, 2026.
    • Reporting: Ensure all donations and grant allocations comply with regulatory and internal transparency policies.
