Description
The Facilities Volunteer assists with the ongoing maintenance of historic structures. Their tasks may include drywall repair, painting, carpentry, and masonry, and may require the use of tools such as hammers, drills, and saws. The projects the Facilities Volunteer is assigned may vary significantly from one week to the next, from sanding and staining signposts to repointing stone walls. They typically operate as a member of a team under the direction of a dedicated staff liaison.
Shifts vary, depending on the project, but are typically available throughout the year.
The Facilities Volunteer is expected to…
- Have access to a personal vehicle for travel to, from, and between worksites.
- Be physically able to…
- Work both in and outdoors, in varying weather conditions, and remain active for extended periods of time (30+ minutes), including standing, sitting, kneeling, and traveling short distances (less than 1 mile) on flat to uneven, paved and unpaved surfaces.
- Use and carry tools, lift and transport 5-gallon plastic buckets of material, and push wheelbarrows of material for short distances.
