This is a remote volunteer opportunity ideal for a communications professional who wants to make a meaningful impact while building leadership experience in nonprofit PR.

    Position Summary

In this role, you’ll take ownership of media outreach efforts, shape public narratives, and build relationships that bring awareness to the work we do supporting young mothers. You’ll collaborate directly with the Executive Director and work alongside marketing and social media teams to ensure a consistent, powerful message across all platforms.

    What You’ll Do

      • Write compelling press releases, media pitches, and public-facing statements
      • Maintain and grow a strong media contact list and press database
      • Develop and update media kits, talking points, and brand messaging

      • Track media coverage and evaluate PR performance metrics
      • Collaborate with marketing and social media teams to ensure aligned, consistent messaging

    What We’re Looking For

      • 2+ years of experience in public relations, communications, marketing, or media outreach
      • Proven ability to pitch stories and secure media coverage
      • Exceptional writing and storytelling skills
      • Strong relationship-building and networking abilities
      • Self-starter who can manage multiple projects independently
      • Highly organized with strong attention to detail
      • Confident representing an organization in external communications
      • Experience with media monitoring tools or PR databases is a plus

    Why Join YMI?

      • Make a real impact by supporting and empowering young mothers
      • Gain hands-on leadership experience in nonprofit public relations
      • Build your portfolio with meaningful, mission-driven work
      • Collaborate with a passionate and purpose-driven team
      • Flexible, fully remote opportunity
