Role Summary
The Director of Operations & Events is a senior leadership role overseeing PBWR’s sailing and racing calendar, training and certification programs, science research collaborations, and sustainability projects. This role ensures that all operational activities run smoothly, meet safety and quality standards, and align with PBWR’s mission.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and oversee PBWR’s annual sailing and racing schedule, including local and offshore events.
- Lead training and certification programs for participants.
- Coordinate with partners on science research and sustainability initiatives.
- Manage event logistics, safety compliance, and volunteer assignments.
- Supervise volunteer coordinators for Sailing & Racing, Training & Certification, Science, and Sustainability.
- Work closely with the Executive Director and Board to ensure program excellence.
Qualifications
- Experience in event management, operations, or program leadership (sports/maritime preferred).
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Familiarity with sailing, boating safety, or maritime operations (preferred but not required).
- Ability to lead and inspire volunteers.
- Passion for PBWR’s mission: young adult sailing, marine science, and sustainability.
- Willingness to commit 8–12 hours/week and attend PBWR events.
