Volunteers will review actual Official Records determined to potentially contain racially restrictive language. Data collected by volunteers during this review will assist in the development of an interactive historical map that visually identifies the locations where unlawful restrictions have existed.
This data will also be used to create RESTRICTIVE COVENANT MODIFICATION documents removing the discriminatory language (required by California Assembly Bill 1466) in the Official Record.
The work completed with the project will create a historical database for residents, local leaders, and policy makers to facilitate dialogue and action to foster healing in marginalized communities.
No prior document indexing experience needed, and there is no minimum time requirements to work.
