Florida Cancer Specialists Foundation - Reservist Patient Support Volunteer (Wellington)
Details
Description
Want to start making a difference in someone else's life? Become a Patient Support Volunteer for the Florida Cancer Specialists Foundation. Our Volunteers brighten up a cancer patient’s day by providing non-medical support to them while they are undergoing treatment. In the infusion area, volunteers offer a snack or beverage to a patient, hand out warm blankets, share reading materials, talk and listen, wipe down the infusion chairs and help support the nurses with re-stocking.
The Reservist is a volunteer who helps to fill in shifts when regular status volunteers are not available. This position is guaranteed at least one 3 hour shift a month, but will usually do more. They are also the first volunteers to be offered a regular shift when a regular status volunteer resigns. The candidate for this position needs to have fairly open availability to be able to cover shifts at varied times.
Other Requirements:
- Complete a phone interview.
- Complete a criminal history check and drug/nicotine screening. * Please note that FCS is a nicotine and medical marijuana free workplace. Individuals who test positive for nicotine or medical marijuana will not be permitted to participate in the volunteer program. *
- Complete a health screening: Tuberculosis (TB) testing and Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, and Varicella immunizations or approved exemption are required for Patient Support Volunteers.
- An influenza vaccine is required annually (August 1 through March 31).
