    Description

Day Out With Thomas 2026 - Northwest Railway Museum

The Northwest Railway Museum is excited to welcome volunteers for Day Out With Thomas™, one of our largest and most popular family events of the year! This beloved summer tradition brings Thomas the Tank Engine to life for thousands of children and families — and we can’t do it without the help of our amazing volunteers.

    📅 Event Dates (2026)

    Fridays–Sundays:

    • July 10–12
    • July 17–19
    • July 24–26

    🚂 Volunteer Roles Available

    Grounds Crew

Grounds Crew volunteers help ensure a safe, fun, and smooth experience for our visitors. Duties may include:

    • Crowd control and guest flow
    • Staffing activity and craft stations
    • Assisting guests at entrances and throughout the site

    Shift Time: 8:00am–6:00pm

    Partial shifts available

    Train Crew – Conductor’s Assistants

Conductor’s Assistants work as part of the Train Crew, helping conductors and assisting passengers during the train ride. No prior railroad experience is required for this role — new volunteers are welcome and will receive on-the-job guidance.

    Shift Time: 7:15am–7:00pm

    🌟 Why Volunteer?

    • Earn community service hours
    • Support a family-focused, high-energy event
    • Gain behind-the-scenes experience at a working railroad museum
    • Be part of a team creating unforgettable memories for kids and families

No railroad experience is required for Grounds Crew or Conductor’s Assistant roles — just a friendly attitude, reliability, and a willingness to help. Volunteers should be comfortable interacting with the public and remaining on their feet for portions of the day.
