PR & Communications Manager

Stoop Stories connects New York City neighbors across generations and differences to reduce loneliness and increase compassion and joy. Through documentary stories and community events, we celebrate stoop culture and highlight underrepresented communities.

Who we're looking for:

A proactive, well-connected volunteer to help grow Stoop Stories' visibility beyond our own channels, press, publications, partner organizations, and our email community across NYC. This role suits someone who's persistent, a strong communicator, and genuinely excited to get our story in front of new audiences.

The ideal candidate has:

• Marketing/communications and/or journalism background, with strong written communication skills
• Experience with press outreach, media pitching, or newsletter writing
• Comfort with email marketing tools like Mailchimp (or similar)
• A warm, human voice in writing, and a genuine passion for storytelling, NYC culture, and community-based nonprofit work
• Comfort researching and identifying relevant local publications, journalists, and community organizations
• Self-driven, with strong organizational skills

Scope & Responsibilities:

• Help generate and distribute newsletters (via Mailchimp) and press releases
• Conduct outreach to local organizations and publications to build press coverage and partnerships
• Stay current on relevant news, press opportunities, and media trends
• Track outreach efforts and share updates with the team
