    Volunteer 1 day per week (Tues or Thurs) for 1.5 hours (9:00–10:30 AM) with a 6–8 week minimum. Flexible scheduling is coordinated with staff, and support is provided to make your session meaningful and manageable.

    About Iron Village Preparatory Academy

    Iron Village Preparatory Academy (IVP) is a small, student-centered K–8 microschool in Richmond, focused on academic growth, cultural joy, and creative expression. We are looking for volunteers to help students strengthen their reading and writing skills in a calm, supportive, relationship-driven environment.

    Volunteer Role: Literacy Support

    As a literacy volunteer, you’ll work with small groups of students alongside experienced educators, helping them build confidence, curiosity, and a love of reading and writing.

    Responsibilities:

    • Support students with reading fluency, comprehension, and writing
    • Listen to students read and ask thoughtful, encouraging questions
    • Foster confidence, curiosity, and a love of learning
    • Build positive, consistent relationships with students

    Schedule & Commitment

    • Tuesdays and/or Thursdays, 9:00–10:30 AM
    • 1 day per week preferred
    • 6–8 week minimum commitment
    • Flexible within these times where possible
