    Community Impact Volunteers

    Volunteer New York! is excited to launch our Volunteer Community Impact Volunteers Group, a cohort of volunteers from our community who will focus on delivering high-impact, substantive volunteer experience with our corporate partners to address the greatest needs in our community.

    Impact Volunteers will get the opportunity to volunteer directly with Volunteer New York! staff and community members to support the planning and execution of Corporate Days of Service and other group volunteer projects.

    By serving as a Community Impact Volunteer, you will build your network, develop new skills, all while mobilizing corporate and community volunteers in meaningful projects throughout the Lower Hudson Valley.

    Volunteer New York! mobilizes our community by partnering with local companies to design and execute employee volunteer and engagement programs to address community needs. By serving as an Impact Volunteer, you can combine your passion for service with leadership, organization, and teamwork — while helping corporate volunteers make a real difference in our region.

    What will I Do as a Community Impact Volunteer?

    • On-Site Project Support (at corporate volunteer projects):Assisting with unloading vehicles and transporting supplies
    • Supporting room or site setup at company locations or nonprofit sites
    • Setting up project materials and volunteer stations
    • Taking volunteer attendance and helping with check-in
    • Serving as an additional point of support for volunteers during projects by answering questions and helping troubleshoot
    • Acting as an extra set of eyes and ears to help ensure projects are safe, efficient, and successful

    Project Preparation (at Volunteer New York! Tarrytown offices):

    • Support the creation of volunteer kits, which includes prepping for a project by sorting and packing supplies at the Volunteer New York! offices for future volunteer engagement.
    • Possible tasks may include copying, cutting, laminating, and more.

    This role is well-suited for both emerging and seasoned community members looking to build skills, expand networks, and contribute meaningfully.

    When do I need to be available?

    • Flexible weekday availability. Service projects typically take place Monday through Friday during standard working hours.
    • Busiest months are April through October
    • Time commitment may include:
      • 2-3 hours for project preparation
      • Up to 4-5 hours on days when supporting on-site projects
    • Ability to spend at least 3 hours walking, standing, lifting moderately light loads, bending, stretching, and grasping
    • Willingness to work in variable indoor and outdoor conditions
    • Reliable access to transportation
    • Must be 18-years-old or older

    What qualifications do I need to serve as a Community Impact Volunteer?

    • Commitment to showing up on time and being present with a professional, welcoming demeanor
    • Flexibility, reliability, and a sense of humor
    • Passion for volunteerism and community engagement
    • Ability to attend a one-hour training in person at the Volunteer New York! offices in Tarrytown, NY during the workday. (Trainings will be held quarterly).
