    Can you spare 1 hour a week to visit or call an older adult? Become a Friendly Visiting volunteer!

    Queens Community House is seeking volunteers for our Friendly Visiting Program!

    QCH's Friendly Visiting Program pairs homebound older adults aged 60+ with caring volunteers for weekly visits or phone calls, to help reduce isolation and loneliness in our community. Together, the older adult and volunteer can discuss shared interests, learn/teach new skills, read books, learn technology, play board games and much more!

    We serve older adults living in Western, Central and Southwest Queens neighborhoods. These areas include Long Island City, Astoria, Sunnyside, Woodside, Jackson Heights, Elmhurst, Corona, Maspeth, Middle Village, Ridgewood, Glendale, Rego Park, Forest Hills, Kew Gardens, Woodhaven, Richmond Hill, Howard Beach, Ozone Park, Jamaica, Hollis, St. Albans, The Rockaways and Broad Channel.

    Volunteer Requirements:

    • Must be 18 years or older
    • Commit to at least 6 months of volunteering
    • Complete a background check
    • Provide 2 non-familial references
