Description
The Storytime Reader is a community volunteer role responsible for reading to children once a month in a warm, welcoming setting. This role helps foster early literacy, imagination, and a love of reading while supporting our mission to provide accessible, affirming literary resources and community connection.
Primary Responsibilities
- Read aloud to children once a month at a scheduled community event or program.
- Help create a positive, engaging, and welcoming reading experience.
- Encourage children’s interest in books, stories, and literacy.
- Work with organization leaders to follow event guidelines and scheduling needs.
- Represent the organization in a friendly, respectful, and supportive manner.
Tools and Access
The Volunteer Reader will be provided with:
- The books to be read
- Any needed event details or scheduling information
- Support from organization staff or volunteers as needed
Qualifications
- Must live in or near Oneida, TN.
- Comfortable reading aloud to children.
- Friendly, patient, and engaging with young audiences.
- Strong commitment to supporting children and community literacy.
- Ability to communicate clearly and follow event guidelines.
- Prior experience working with children is helpful but not required.
Time Commitment
This is a volunteer role with a flexible time commitment of approximately once per month.
