    Duration: Volunteers typically serve 3-6 hours/week, flexible start and end dates.

    SCOPE OF WORK:

    The Donations Volunteer will work in coordination with the Resource & Partnership Development (RPD) department—specifically the Volunteer & Donation Coordinator (VDC)—in organizing and distributing Contributions-in-Kind (CIK) donations, essential goods that the IRC receives and then donates to resettled refugee and immigrant populations. In this capacity, the volunteer will mainly be assisting in organizing donated goods, assembling and distributing client requests, and providing general maintenance of IRC storage facilities. Volunteers may also assist with donation valuations, record keeping, improving donation infrastructure and data systems.

    GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Support the tracking and valuation of donations received;
    • Assemble donation kits (client donation requests) from inventory in small “warehouse”;
    • Assist the VDC in transporting the assembled donations to the nearby office for staff pick-up;
    • Maintain IRC storage facilities, including the warehouse and office storage closet, by organizing shelves and maintaining general tidiness;
    • Perform administrative tasks that assist in streamlining processes;
    • Support the Volunteer & Donation Coordinator with other duties, as needed.

    POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

    • Ability to lift 30lbs+ safely;
    • Hours may either take place during regular business hours Monday-Friday OR during agreed-upon “after-hours” with the VDC, occasionally on weeknight evenings or weekends;
    • Attention to detail and accuracy in work product;
    • Strong verbal and written skills in English;
    • Positive attitude and an interest in supportive, behind-the-scenes work;
    • Proficient in digital communications and technology with strong organizational skills.
