    Ajkun Ballet Theatre is seeking a Volunteer Grant Writer to help secure funding that supports professional ballet productions, international training programs, and scholarships for talented young dancers. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to a respected performing arts organization while gaining valuable experience in grant writing, nonprofit development, and arts administration.

    Volunteers will work directly with the organization’s leadership and participate in developing proposals for major cultural funders and foundations supporting the performing arts.

    Position Overview

    The Volunteer Grant Writer will assist in researching funding opportunities and preparing competitive proposals to foundations, cultural institutions, and public agencies that support the performing arts.

    This opportunity is particularly well suited for individuals interested in careers in arts administration, nonprofit development, philanthropy, or cultural management.

    Strategic Funding Initiatives

    The volunteer grant writer will assist in developing funding proposals supporting initiatives such as:

    • International Ballet Training Programs
    • Scholarships for talented young dancers
    • Professional ballet productions in New York
    • Cultural exchange programs for emerging artists

    Grant proposals may be prepared for organizations including:

      • National Endowment for the Arts
      • New York State Council on the Arts
      • New York City Department of Cultural Affairs

    Qualified volunteers may receive credit as a contributing grant writer on proposals and reports where appropriate.

    Responsibilities

    • Research grant opportunities from foundations and public agencies
    • Assist in drafting grant proposals and letters of inquiry
    • Develop program narratives and funding justifications
    • Organize supporting documentation for applications
    • Track grant deadlines and maintain a grants calendar
    • Assist with grant reporting when necessary

    Desired Qualifications

    • Strong writing, research, and analytical skills
    • Experience or coursework in nonprofit fundraising or grant writing preferred
    • Interest in performing arts, ballet, or arts education
    • Ability to synthesize program information into compelling narratives
    • Organized, detail-oriented, and able to meet deadlines

    Graduate students or recent graduates in nonprofit management, public administration, communications, or arts administration are especially encouraged to apply.
