Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Oversight
Serve as Chair of the Communications Committee, overseeing existing Marketing Subcommittee and the Social Media Subcommittee (possible expansion to include a Communications Subcommittee to manage internal / external newsletters).
Ensure CARE’s communications strategies align with organizational priorities and fundraising goals.
Support consistent and mission-driven branding across all print, digital, and in-person communication channels.
Advise the Board on best practices for public relations, digital engagement, and brand reputation management.
Branding
Ensure compliance with accessibility standards (ADA, WCAG) and copyright laws.
Maintain and enforce CARE’s brand guidelines and visual identity across all platforms.
Internal Communications
Support effective communication between the Board, committees, volunteers, and staff.
Facilitate meetings, presentations, and internal updates to ensure alignment across teams.
Promote a culture of transparency and collaboration through consistent internal messaging.
Digital Strategy & Social Media
Lead the development and execution of CARE’s digital and social media strategy to advance awareness, adoptions, fundraising, and community education.
Apply Search Engine Optimization (SEO) best practices across social media and digital content to improve visibility and reach.
Oversee the creation, scheduling, and publishing of posts across platforms, ensuring timeliness, engagement, and alignment with campaigns.
Proficiency in content creation and design tools (Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, Camtasia, iMovie, Synthesia).
Establish standardized naming conventions for images, videos, and hashtags to streamline organization, cataloging, and consistent usage across platforms.
Guide content creators with best practices for writing, storytelling, and imagery that align with CARE’s voice and brand.
Track and analyze social media and digital campaign performance, sharing insights with CARE leadership to optimize future strategies.
Public Relations & External Communications
Act as a public spokesperson for CARE when needed and coach others in effective messaging
Build and maintain relationships with local media, community leaders, and partner organizations.
Oversee press releases, media advisories, and public statements to ensure clarity, accuracy, and consistency.
Committee Management
Recruit and mentor volunteers for the Communications, Marketing, and Social Media Subcommittees.
Coordinate regular meetings of the Communications Committee and its subcommittees.
Report committee activities and outcomes to the Board of Directors.
