Description
TWCUYC is seeking a dependable volunteer to pick up donated food and pantry items from community partners and deliver them to our transitional housing program in Dallas. Most pickups are located in the South Dallas area.
This is a great opportunity for someone who wants to support the community through a consistent, hands-on volunteer role.
What You’ll Do
- Pick up food, groceries, and pantry items from designated community partners
- Transport donated items to our transitional housing location
- Load and unload grocery bags, boxes, and other donated items
- Communicate with TWCUYC regarding pickup times and any changes
- Complete approximately one scheduled pickup each week
- Occasionally assist with additional pickups when available
What We’re Looking For
- Reliable transportation
- Valid driver’s license and current auto insurance
- Dependable and punctual
- Comfortable driving throughout the Dallas area, particularly South Dallas
- Able to safely lift and carry grocery bags and boxes
- Comfortable communicating with pantry staff and community partners
- Able to follow pickup instructions and communicate promptly if an issue occurs
Time Commitment
Approximately one pickup per week. Pickup days and times may vary depending on pantry availability. Currently, the pickups are Wednesdays at 10:30 AM. Additional pickup opportunities may be available for volunteers interested in helping more frequently.
