Life is forever changed after an impaired driving crash. Victims/survivors are often left bereaved, injured, and financially devastated. With the emotional, financial, and legal issues they face on a daily basis, victims/survivors need support to confront the challenges that lie ahead. In 2005, MADD launched the MADD Helpline, a telephone support service available to victims of drunk driving 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
The MADD Helpline depends on volunteers to fill the night, weekend, and holiday hours when someone needs to reach out. To become a MADD Helpline volunteer all applicants must completed online and live training. We are looking for Helpline Volunteers to provide victims with immediate emotional support, information, and referrals to MADD entities nationwide.
This Volunteer Opportunity can be done remotely from the comfort of your home. If you or someone you know is interested in being a Helpline volunteer, please contact Vanessa Marquez at vanessa.marquez@madd.org.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
Time Commitment Required: 5-10 hours per week, more if desired for 1 year.
Length of Assignment: At least one year post training.
In this MADD volunteer position of Helpline Volunteer, you must be at least 18 years or older. Out of respect for the victims, survivors, and families MADD serves, MADD does not accept those interested in volunteering who are currently involved in ongoing impaired driving offenses. Upon the resolution of your case please reach out to your local MADD office about potential volunteer opportunities.
