    Description

    Living History Volunteer

Living History volunteers are essential to educating schoolchildren at Red Hill. As a volunteer, you are able to give tours of the property and demonstrate 18th century trades to children between the ages of eight and eighteen!

Guides can choose to assist with traditional trades such as pottery making, tin punching, flax production, Colonial children's games, and more. Volunteers can also give tours of the historic buildings when living history is not being offered.

Living History volunteers are able to engage with children and adults in a hands-on setting, providing a memorable experience in a unique, ever-changing work environment. Optional 18th century costumes are provided.

Benefits of being a Red Hill volunteer

    • Learn about Red Hill, Patrick Henry, Black history, and life in the late 18th century
    • Apply the knowledge, skills, and abilities you have developed to enhance and have an impact on families, youth, and schools who visit.
    • Meet people with common interests.
    • Help people from diverse backgrounds by introducing them to the many real and virtual opportunities and experiences available on the estate.
    • Earn a discount for use at the Red Hill Gift Shop.
    • Know that you make a difference!
