Mentor A Promise (MAP) is a New York City–based nonprofit serving children and youth ages 5–18 experiencing housing instability through mentorship, literacy, social-emotional learning (SEL), and creative expression. Our in-person programs are where our mission becomes real—inside classrooms, community spaces, and daily student experiences.

PromiseRooted is MAP’s in-person program delivered in schools and community sites. It provides structured, consistent environments where students receive academic support, mentorship, and social-emotional development.
Role Overview
We are seeking a Program Manager, In-Person Programming to oversee the execution, consistency, and quality of MAP’s site-based programs.
This role ensures that programs are not only running—but running well, consistently, and in alignment with MAP’s standards.
This is a high-impact operational leadership role focused on bridging strategy and daily execution.
Key Responsibilities
Program Execution & Oversight
- Oversee day-to-day operations across in-person program sites
- Ensure programs follow established schedules, structure, and expectations
- Monitor consistency and quality of program delivery
Site Coordination & Support
- Support and manage Site-Based Program Coordinators
- Provide guidance, troubleshooting, and operational support
- Ensure alignment across multiple sites
Program Quality & Standards
- Ensure programs align with MAP’s SEL, mentorship, and engagement goals
- Identify gaps in delivery and implement improvements
- Maintain high standards for student experience and engagement
Volunteer & Staff Alignment
- Coordinate with Volunteer Operations to ensure proper staffing at sites
- Ensure volunteers are placed, prepared, and supported
- Address attendance, reliability, and performance issues
Partnership Coordination
- Work with school and shelter partners to maintain strong relationships
- Ensure program expectations are met at each site
- Support communication and coordination with external partners
Systems & Operations
- Track attendance, participation, and program performance
- Maintain structured documentation and reporting
- Support development of scalable systems for program growth
Cross-Team Collaboration
- Work closely with Mentorship Program Manager and SEL leads
- Align program execution with curriculum and program strategy
- Collaborate with leadership on program improvements and expansion
Communication & Responsiveness
- Maintain clear, timely communication across teams
- Ensure responsiveness via Google Workspace and program channels
Qualifications
Required
- Experience in program management, education, or youth development
- Strong organizational and operational skills
- Ability to manage multiple sites, teams, and priorities
- Strong leadership and problem-solving abilities
- Alignment with MAP’s mission and dignity-centered values
Preferred
- Experience working in school-based or community programs
- Experience managing staff or volunteers
- Familiarity with SEL, mentorship, or youth programming
- Experience in nonprofit or education environments
Commitment
- Volunteer role
- Approximately 5–10 hours per week (with in-person presence as needed)
- Minimum 6-month commitment required
- NYC-based (site coordination required)
