Program Summary: We are searching for a volunteer to facilitate a bi-weekly or monthly storytelling group for our residents. Golda Meir House residents have many amazing stories to share and find value in exchanging stories in a group setting. We are looking for a volunteer who has an interest in building connections with residents, listening to meaningful stories, and who feels confident facilitating discussions.
Key responsibilities:
- Prepare a specific theme or prompt prior to the session to guide the storytelling group.
- Moderate a meaningful discussion on chosen topic, ensuring that residents take turns sharing.
- Provide a welcoming environment for all who attend
- Build relationships with residents who attend and encourage them to come back each week
Impact Goal: This program will provide space for our residents to gather and build connections with fellow residents.
Qualifications:
- 16 years of age or older
- Comfortable working with older adults
- Experience leading discussions and managing group dynamics
- Familiarity with storytelling programs such as The Moth by NPR or similar groups
- A desire to build relationships and welcoming attitude
