    Description

Volunteer Team Leader - Engage with our Volunteer Groups

Community Harvest Project (CHP) is a non-profit farm that engages and educates volunteers to grow fruits and vegetables for local hunger relief. CHP is the largest non governmental source of fresh produce for hunger relief in Worcester County.

Team Leading is a rewarding hands-on experience guiding diverse groups of volunteers in farm activities for a 3.5 hour morning shift. Volunteer Team Leaders are the backbone of Community Harvest Project’s success story. Our Team Leaders work with CHP Staff and Interns to represent the organization and ensure a positive experience for thousands of volunteers who visit us. Just one shift per month is all the commitment requires!

What does a Team Leader do?

A great Volunteer Team Leader has a friendly and engaging personality and leads small groups of volunteers in hands-on farm activities. If assisting and leading diverse groups of volunteers from pre-K to senior citizens in farm activities sounds like an exciting opportunity, then this role is for you!

Interested volunteers should email volunteer@community-harvest.org or call (774)551-6544.

    Why become a Team Leader?

    • Gain an opportunity to participate in the community by engaging with volunteer groups by working hands-on to grow food that is donated to those in our community experiencing food insecurity.
    • Be a part of a dynamic team of farmers and volunteers who work together to further CHP’s mission.
    • Spend time outside on a beautiful farm and stay active.

    Responsibilities usually include:

    • Leading groups of volunteers to complete assigned farm activities
      • Seeding, tending, harvesting, washing produce, sorting and packaging
    • Welcoming all volunteer groups! Team leaders are often the first person volunteers will interact with at CHP, so being welcoming and engaging is very important!
    • Ensuring a positive overall experience for volunteers.
    • Inspiring the engagement of volunteers of every interest level.

    Ideal volunteers will:

    • Have an interest and commitment to Community Harvest Project’s overall mission and purpose.
    • Have good communication skills and be willing to engage and encourage others.
    • Be able to lead and work with volunteer groups of all sizes and ages (pre-K to senior citizens).
    • Have a friendly, engaging personality and positive outlook.
    • Be able to perform hands-on farm activities in all types of weather.
