    Description

    Product Designer (Part-Time, 5–10 hrs/week)

Trailfunds | Remote | Volunteer or small stipend depending on funding

    About Trailfunds

Trailfunds is a nonprofit technology platform that helps outdoor stewardship organizations manage their operations and connect their work to the communities that benefit from it. Our tools support volunteer coordination, project tracking, field reporting, and community engagement — while publishing that work on a public map so recreationists can see and support the organizations maintaining our public lands.

We are currently redesigning parts of the platform and expanding our feature set, and we’re looking for a part-time Product Designer to help shape the user experience as the platform evolves.

    Role Overview

The Product Designer will work closely with the founder to design intuitive workflows and interfaces that help stewardship organizations manage their work more effectively. This role focuses on turning complex operational needs into simple, elegant user experiences.

This is a great opportunity for a designer who wants meaningful ownership of product decisions while contributing to a mission-driven platform supporting conservation and outdoor recreation.

    What You’ll Do

    • Design user flows and interface concepts for new platform features
    • Create wireframes, mockups, and simple prototypes
    • Help refine the overall UX of the Trailfunds platform
    • Translate partner feedback into thoughtful design improvements
    • Collaborate with development to ensure designs are practical and implementable
    • Help maintain design consistency across the product

    What We’re Looking For

    • Experience or strong interest in product/UX design
    • Ability to simplify complex workflows into intuitive interfaces
    • Familiarity with modern SaaS or mobile product design patterns
    • Experience with design tools such as Figma or similar
    • Comfortable working independently in a flexible, early-stage environment

    Bonus Experience

    • Work with nonprofits or mission-driven organizations
    • Interest in conservation, outdoor recreation, or stewardship
    • Experience designing tools for operations, data workflows, or mapping interfaces

    Hours & Compensation

    • 5–10 hours per week
    • Fully remote
    • Volunteer or small stipend depending on available funding
    • Potential for expanded responsibilities as Trailfunds grows
