Ohio Senior Medicare Patrol (SMP) Educator

Basic volunteer duties involved with this assignment:

1. Provide general information about SMP and health care fraud and identity theft
2. Transport materials and supplies to events
3. Distribute written information about the SMP Program and literature about health care fraud and identity theft

Basic volunteer qualifications involved with this assignment: Good oral communication and public speaking skills; ability to get along well with others; ability to transport and carry SMP Education and Information materials to outreach events; valid driver's license and vehicle insurance; ability and willingness to learn and share information about Medicare fraud and identity theft

Who will be served by this assignment? Ohio Medicare beneficiaries, caregivers, and members of the public serving the other adult population

What is the anticipated benefit of this volunteer service to those receiving the service? Mileage reimbursement at the federal level; peer educators' schedules are flexible; the Ohio SMP Volunteer Coordinator coordinates events with the peer educators' availability

What specific skills will the volunteer need? Ability to get alone well with others from diverse backgrounds; ability to travel to event sites throughout the community; good oral communication and public speaking skills; valid driver's license and insurance
