    Hospice Volunteer-Many Opportunities-Join our team! [Racine/Milwaukee/Sheboygan areas]

Do you have a caring heart and desire to bring comfort to others? We are seeking compassionate individuals to serve as Hospice Volunteers.

As a volunteer, you have many opportunities to support patients facing life-limiting illnesses. Your presence can make a world of difference---offering comfort, reducing loneliness, and creating moments of joy.

    Volunteer activities may include:

    • Engaging in conversation and active listening
    • Companionship/socialization
    • Reading aloud, playing music, or sharing hobbies
    • Sitting quietly as a comforting presence
    • 11th hour/angel/sitting vigil
    • Music therapy
    • Art therapy
    • Emotional/spiritual support
    • Veteran-to-veteran visits, pinning services
    • Assist with grief support/bereavement
    • Offering respite to family caregivers (without caregiving yourself)
    • Helping patients/caregivers with light household tasks
    • Office/administrative tasks
    • Specialized licensed therapies such as pet therapy, massage, aromatherapy, and reiki

Time Commitment: Flexible scheduling---visits are typically 1-2 hours per week, based on your availability.

Training & Support: All volunteers receive comprehensive hospice training and ongoing support and education from our care team. No medical experience is required.

    Requirements:

    • Must be 18 years or older
    • Hospice experience (preferred, but not required)
    • Must pass a background check
    • Must have a negative TB test result after testing
    • Reliable, compassionate, and dependable
    • Must provide TWO references
    • Willing to commit to 6-12 months of service
    • Comfortable speaking with patients and families by phone and in person
    • Detail-oriented with a professional attitude

    Why volunteer with us:

    • Gain valuable healthcare experience
    • Make a meaningful difference both behind the scenes and in someone's life
    • Join a supportive, mission-driven team environment
