Volunteer Board Treasurer – Founding Board Member (Nonprofit)

We are seeking a dedicated volunteer to serve as the founding Treasurer on the Board of Directors for a Maryland nonprofit focused on providing transitional housing, supportive services, peer recovery resources, and housing assistance for veterans, low-income individuals, and people experiencing homelessness.

This is a governance and oversight role - not an operational or paid position.

Responsibilities

• Review financial reports and budgets
• Help establish sound financial controls
• Work with the board to ensure responsible stewardship of nonprofit funds
• Assist with annual reporting and IRS compliance
• Attend quarterly board meetings and occasional committee meetings

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in accounting, bookkeeping, finance, banking, or business management
• Comfortable reviewing financial statements
• Commitment to ethical leadership and transparency
• Passion for serving vulnerable communities

Previous nonprofit board experience is welcome but not required.

This is a volunteer position with the opportunity to help shape a new organization from the ground up.
