About R.O.S.E. Youth Mentoring Foundation Inc.

R.O.S.E. Youth Mentoring Foundation Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to mentoring and supporting youth, young adults, and young people experiencing challenges in school, at home, or in their communities.

Our name represents our guiding principle: Raising One Soul Everyday.

We believe every young person deserves encouragement, positive role models, guidance, and opportunities to build a brighter future.

    About This Volunteer Opportunity

Are you passionate about encouraging young people and helping them reach their potential? R.O.S.E. Youth Mentoring Foundation Inc. welcomes caring, dependable volunteers who want to contribute to youth mentoring, life-skills development, and enrichment activities.

Volunteers will assist with program preparation and activities under the direction of organizational leadership. Previous mentoring experience is not required. We welcome individuals who are willing to learn, follow guidance, and help create a positive environment for young people.

    Responsibilities

    • Help prepare educational materials, activities, and program supplies.
    • Assist with youth mentoring and life-skills activities as assigned.
    • Encourage positive decision-making, goal setting, confidence, and personal responsibility within approved program activities.
    • Help prepare enrichment activities and community engagement projects.
    • Serve as a respectful, encouraging, and positive role model.
    • Assist with attendance records and program documentation as authorized.
    • Help maintain a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment.
    • Attend required orientation and training.
    • Follow organizational policies, confidentiality requirements, and appropriate boundaries when interacting with youth.

    Qualifications

We are looking for volunteers who demonstrate:

    • A genuine interest in supporting youth and young adults.
    • Dependability, patience, integrity, and respect.
    • Good communication and a willingness to learn.
    • The ability to follow instructions and organizational policies.
    • A commitment to youth safety, confidentiality, and appropriate boundaries.

Previous mentoring, tutoring, coaching, education, or community-service experience is welcome but not required.

Volunteers ages 16 and older may express interest. Duties, screening, training, and supervision will be appropriate to each volunteer's age and assigned responsibilities.

    Time Commitment

This is an ongoing volunteer opportunity with a flexible schedule based on program activities and organizational needs.

Our preferred commitment is approximately 2 days per week when program activities are scheduled. Available days and hours can be discussed during the volunteer screening process. Individuals with different availability are encouraged to express interest.

    Location

    R.O.S.E. Youth Mentoring Foundation Inc.

132 North Sycamore Street, Suite 7

    Petersburg, VA 23803

Volunteer activities will primarily be coordinated through our Petersburg office. Some activities may take place at other community locations as programs develop. Please arrange visits in advance.

    Training, Screening, and Youth Safety

Orientation and guidance will be provided before volunteers begin their assigned duties.

Because some activities may involve minors, volunteers will be subject to applicable screening, background-check, training, and supervision requirements before being assigned youth-facing responsibilities. Duties will be assigned according to age, qualifications, training, and authorization.

Volunteers must maintain appropriate boundaries and follow all organizational youth-safety procedures.
