    Description

    Board Member (Licensed Clinician)

Break Free: Mental Health, Healing & Hope for Survivors is seeking a compassionate, trauma-informed licensed clinician to serve on our Board of Directors. This role is ideal for a mental health professional who is passionate about supporting survivors of sexual violence and helping a growing nonprofit strengthen its programs, ethics, and impact.

Board members provide strategic guidance, governance, and oversight while helping ensure our work remains survivor-centered, ethical, and grounded in best practices. As a clinician board member, you will offer professional insight on trauma-informed care, peer support boundaries, referral pathways, and program development—without providing direct therapy to participants.

Because Break Free is in an early growth phase, we are currently operating as a working board.

    Responsibilities include:

    • Advising on trauma-informed, survivor-centered programming and policies
    • Supporting ethical standards, boundaries, and risk management
    • Providing clinical perspective on outreach, education, and peer-led support models
    • Participating in board meetings, strategic planning, and key decisions
    • Serving as an ambassador for Break Free’s mission within the professional community

    Qualifications:

    • Active license in a mental health field (e.g., LCSW, LMFT, LPC, Psychologist, Psychiatrist)
    • Experience working with trauma survivors (sexual violence experience strongly preferred)
    • Commitment to equity, confidentiality, and survivor empowerment
    • Ability to think strategically and collaborate with a mission-driven board

This is a volunteer, remote-friendly position. Board members are not responsible for providing therapy and do not have a client-provider relationship with survivors served by Break Free.

Time commitment: Approximately 3–6 hours per month, including quarterly Board meetings.
