    Description

    Cape Cod LOSS Team Volunteer

Are you looking for a meaningful way to give back to your community?

The Samaritans on Cape Cod and the Islands is seeking compassionate individuals to join our LOSS Team as Grief Support Volunteers. LOSS Team volunteers provide in-person support to individuals and families in the hours and days following a suicide loss, offering a calm, caring presence during an incredibly painful and overwhelming time.

This is a deeply meaningful volunteer opportunity for people who feel called to support others through grief, trauma, and loss. Volunteers are not expected to have all the answers. Instead, they provide compassionate listening, emotional support, and connection to resources so that survivors know they are not alone.

Through this work, volunteers help bring hope, comfort, and human connection to individuals and families during one of the most difficult moments of their lives.

This opportunity may be especially meaningful for suicide loss survivors who have had time and support to process their own grief, as well as individuals with experience in helping roles, mental health, peer support, crisis response, social work, healthcare, chaplaincy, education, or other community-based care.

No prior crisis response experience is required. The Samaritans will provide training, guidance, and ongoing support to help volunteers feel prepared for this important work.
