    Description

Utah Grief Camp Volunteer Training - Comfort Zone Camp

Make a difference in the life of a grieving child - become a mentor for grieving children. Comfort Zone Camp is a nonprofit organization that provides free therapeutic grief programs for young people ages 7-17 who have experienced the death of a parent, guardian, or sibling. The programs include traditional, fun camp activities and age-based support groups that break the emotional isolation grief often brings. Ultimately, Comfort Zone Camp provides a safe and fun place for grieving children to heal and grow.

During this four-hour volunteer training session, you will meet Comfort Zone staff, campers, and volunteers who will explain what to expect at camp and how our program impacts grieving children and teens. You will receive education about childhood bereavement and we’ll give you tips on how to be successful in whichever volunteer role you are selected to fill.

There are many volunteer opportunities within Comfort Zone Camp:

    • Big Buddy Mentor (matched 1:1 with a camper)
    • Nurse
    • Healing Circle Leader (grief support group facilitator)
    • Photographer
    • General Camp Volunteer (logistical support staff)

    ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

    • Up to 90 individuals are required for each camp session in a variety of volunteer roles.
    • You must be 15 years of age to become a volunteer.
    • Annual updates of Health History, Confidentiality, and Criminal Background Checks, for those 18 and older, are required.
