    About Mentor A Promise

Mentor A Promise is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting young people

experiencing housing instability through mentorship, educational support, and community-based

programs. As the organization expands its programs, communications, publishing initiatives,

campaigns, and mission-driven products, we are building the leadership and operating structure

    needed to support that growth.

    Role Introduction

Mentor A Promise (MAP) is seeking an experienced Google Workspace Automation Lead to join

PromiseShield (Manage IT, Security & Privacy) and design, build, and maintain automated

solutions across our Google Workspace environment.

This is a hands-on technical leadership role for someone who can leverage Google Apps Script,

Google Workspace APIs, and no-code/low-code integration tools to streamline administrative

    operations and programmatic workflows.

The successful candidate will be a skilled developer or automation engineer with deep expertise

in Google Workspace extensibility and custom software integration.

    What You'll Do

    • Design and deploy automated workflows using Google Apps Script, Google Workspace APIs, and AppSheet to streamline internal processes.
    • Automate user lifecycle actions including onboarding, offboarding, group provisioning, and permission management within Google Admin Console.
    • Integrate Google Workspace applications (Drive, Docs, Sheets, Gmail, Forms, Calendar) with external SaaS platforms and databases via REST APIs and webhooks.
    • Establish coding standards, version control practices, and documentation for all internal automation scripts and custom tools.
    • Identify operational bottlenecks across organizational divisions and propose automated solutions to increase efficiency.
    • Maintain and troubleshoot existing Google Apps Scripts and automated triggers to ensure system reliability and uptime.
    • Collaborate with the Google Workspace Manager and IT Leadership to ensure automations adhere to security, access control, and privacy policies.

    What We're Looking For

    Strong candidates will bring:

    • Proven hands-on experience building custom scripts and automations using Google Apps Script and JavaScript/TypeScript.
    • In-depth understanding of Google Workspace REST APIs (Directory API, Drive API, Gmail API, Sheets API) and OAuth 2.0 authentication.
    • Strong experience connecting Google Workspace with third-party tools via webhooks or integration platforms (e.g., Zapier, Make, n8n).
    • Background in version control (e.g., Git, GitHub) and writing maintainable, clean code with complete technical documentation.
    • Demonstrated problem-solving skills with the ability to translate operational requirements into technical automation workflows.

Experience in one or more of the following areas is especially valuable:

    • Nonprofit or mission-driven organizations
    • Education or youth-focused organizations
    • Experience leveraging AI tools (e.g., Gemini, ChatGPT, GitHub Copilot) to accelerate code generation and workflow development
    • Experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) service accounts and Cloud Functions
