Inclusive World is seeking thoughtful and compassionate volunteers to join our Person-Centered Services Team to help create One-Page Descriptions (OPDs) for our members with intellectual disabilities. A One-Page Description is a powerful person-centered tool that captures what people like and admire about an individual, what is important to them in their daily life, and how best to support them. As a volunteer in this role, you will participate in and review discovery conversations with members and families, and translate those insights into clear, respectful, strength-based One-Page Descriptions. Your work will help staff, volunteers, and community partners better understand each member beyond labels or diagnoses and support them in ways that reflect their strengths, preferences, and individuality.
This is a remote-friendly volunteer opportunity ideal for individuals who enjoy deep listening, thoughtful reflection, and writing that honors each person’s voice and individuality. Volunteers should be comfortable synthesizing conversations into concise summaries and using respectful, person-centered language. Experience in disability services, psychology, education, social work, counseling, writing, or community work is helpful but not required —what matters most is empathy, curiosity, and a belief that every person has strengths and gifts worth recognizing. This volunteer opportunity requires approximately 6–8 hours per week, with a commitment of about 8 hours per week during the months of May through October. This role is a meaningful way to contribute to Inclusive World’s mission of empowering differently-abled individuals to live purposeful, connected lives.
