Description
We are looking for a skilled and creative volunteer to help us improve, update, and strengthen our organization’s website and online presence in Kisumu, Kenya.
Our website is an important tool for sharing our community work, reaching potential volunteers and partners, showcasing the products and activities of the women we work with, and telling the stories and impact of our programs. We are therefore looking for someone with experience in WordPress, website development, website editing, or digital communications who can work alongside our local team to improve our existing website.
The volunteer may help update website pages and content, improve the design and navigation, upload photographs and project information, organize existing content, fix broken or outdated pages and links, improve mobile responsiveness, and make the website easier for visitors to understand and use.
Depending on your experience, you may also help with basic SEO, website performance, contact forms, security and backups, social-media integration, analytics, and training our local team on how to confidently make future WordPress updates themselves.
We especially value volunteers who can help us create a website that remains manageable after their placement. Rather than simply making changes for us, we hope you can transfer your knowledge to our team and leave behind simple systems and guidance that we can continue using.
Skills that would be especially useful
Experience with WordPress is our main priority. Knowledge of web design, website development, Elementor or similar WordPress page builders, basic HTML/CSS, SEO, Google Analytics, graphic design, photography, content writing, or digital marketing would be an added advantage.
You do not need to have all of these skills. If you are confident working with WordPress and are willing to share your knowledge, creativity, and ideas, we would be happy to hear from you.
This is an opportunity to use practical digital skills to support a grassroots community initiative while experiencing life in Kisumu and working directly with our local team.

If available, please include links or examples of websites you have created, edited, managed, or helped improve. Experience with WordPress, Elementor or other page builders, SEO, graphic design, content creation, photography, or social media is especially welcome.
We welcome both experienced professionals and enthusiastic volunteers with practical WordPress skills who are willing to work collaboratively, share knowledge, and help us build a website that our team can continue managing after your placement.
This opportunity is primarily available as a remote volunteer role, so you can contribute your skills from anywhere in the world. However, if you are interested in travelling to Kisumu and working with our team in person, you are equally welcome. We would be happy to host volunteers who prefer an on-site experience and the opportunity to engage directly with our team and community.
