    About the Role

    The COO will provide leadership and strategic vision to the organization. They will bring operational, managerial and administrative procedures, reporting structures and operation controls to the organization. The COO will effectively communicate and foster growth among the executive team and all Volunteer staff. This is a vital leadership role that will drive results, spur growth and increase the overall efficiency of the corporation.The COO will serve as a liaison to the Chief Executive Director (CED) and help maintain all corporate level partnerships with all corporate officers while performing a wide variety of duties and responsibilities that are, and can be complex, sensitive, and confidential administrative support functions.

    What You’ll Be Doing

    • Provide management to volunteer staff and leadership of the organization that aligns with the organization business plan and overall strategic visions.
    • Assist executive team members in creating, growing and building a world class, industry leading organization.
    • Drive organization results from both an operational and financial perspective working closely with the CFO, CED and other key executive team members.
    • Partner with the CFO to achieve favorable financial results with, profitability, cash flow, mergers and acquisitions, systems, reporting and controls.
    • Set challenging and realistic goals for growth, performance and profitability.
    • Create effective measurement tools to gauge the efficiency and effectiveness of internal and external processes.
    • Provide accurate and timely reports outlining the operational condition of the company.
    • Spearhead the development, communication and implementation of effective growth strategies and processes.
    • Works with other c-level executives on budgeting, forecasting and resource allocation programs.
    • Work closely with the senior management team to create, implement and roll out plans for operational processes, internal infrastructures, reporting systems and organization policies all designed to foster growth, profitably and efficiencies within the organization.
    • Motivate and encourage volunteer employees and staff at all levels as one of the key leaders in the organization including but not limited to professional staff, management level employees and executive leadership team members.
    • Forge strategic partnerships and relationships with vendors, banks, investors and all other professional business relationships.
    • Meet, interact and present information effectively to potential donors and organization partners.
    • Foster a growth oriented, positive and encouraging environment while keeping employees and management accountable to the organization policies, procedures and guidelines.
    • Maintains files for organization materials; provides information to members at the direction of the CED.
    • Assist To assist with functions of the marketing and development departments as directed by the CED.
    • Analyze complex, sensitive problems and situations, evaluate alternatives and make sound appropriate recommendations for the organization and corporate team.
    • Research on behalf of CED laws, codes, regulations, rules and policies applicable to areas of responsibility related with financial reporting and general internal and external compliance.
    • Ensures organization, research, and maintenance of office filing systems and document management databases are kept to standard.
    • Track and ensure expense reports for CED are processed in a timely manner.
    • Oversee specific positions and projects of the organization directed by the CED.
    • Prioritize and delegate necessary responsibilities to direct report.
    • Handle corporate complaints in a timely manner.

    What You Bring to the Role

    • Must be located in the United States of America, preferably in the Chicagoland area.
    • Bachelor’s degree in business or related field.
    • MBA from Top Business School Preferred
    • 5-10 years of executive level operational experience required.
    • 10+ years at the COO level is preferred
    • Exceptional executive presence, business acumen and presentation skills.
    • Budgeting and/or financial focused mindset is helpful.
    • Engaging/responsive, and proactive communication
    • Proficient in Google Suite and open to learning new tools.
    • Adaptable, collaborative, and self-motivated
    • Establish and maintain highly professional effective working relationships with senior management, and other appointed officials, including staff, community and business leaders, donors, board members, and others encountered in the course of work
    • Use a high degree of tact, discretion and diplomacy in dealing with sensitive situations and concerned groups and/or individuals
