    Description

Volunteer Opportunity: Patient Companion & Gentle Organizing Support in Seattle (Queen Anne)

    Location:

Cogir of Queen Anne – Assisted Living

    805 4th Ave N,

    Seattle, WA 98109

    Type of Opportunity:

    In‑Person Volunteer Companion

    (Relationship‑building focus)

    Priority Level: Normal

    Volunteer Preference: No Preference

    About the Participant

An adult resident of an Assisted Living community is seeking an in‑person companion volunteer who is patient, kind, and relationship‑oriented. The participant experiences forgetfulness and may take time to feel comfortable accepting help. Building trust and rapport is an essential first step before engaging in any task‑based support.

The long‑term goal of this volunteer role is to gently assist with light apartment organization (such as boxes or papers), but only after a trusting relationship has been established.

    Interests & Conversation Starters

      • Sports
      • Music
      • Going for walks
      • General social conversation and companionship

    What the Volunteer Will Do

      • Spend consistent one‑on‑one time building rapport and trust
      • Offering companionship through conversation and shared interests
      • Gradually and respectfully provide support with light organizing when the participant is comfortable
      • Follow the participant’s pace, preferences, and boundaries

    Important Notes

      • This is a gentle, paced role, not a one‑time organizing task
      • The home environment has been confirmed as safe for in‑person visits
      • Coordination and initial guidance will be provided by the care team
      • Ideal for a volunteer who is patient, flexible, and empathetic

    Why This Matters

For some individuals, accepting help takes time and trust. A volunteer who can consistently show up with patience and understanding can make meaningful differences supporting not just a more organized living space, but also confidence, comfort, and connection.
