    POSITION DESCRIPTION

The Leaders of Today and Tomorrow (LOTT) board of directors is an active, working board that powers a volunteer-run organization. As board and committee members, we give our time, expertise, talent, and enthusiasm to make the program happen.

The Program Committee is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the organization’s leadership development program. This includes determining the content and structure of the program, as well as managing recruitment efforts for fellows, mentors, hosts, speakers, and other key participants. The committee plays a central role in promoting, designing, and implementing programming that supports the development of women leaders.

Committee chairs are responsible for setting and ensuring the successful completion of committee goals and work plans, convening meetings and supporting members, and preparing reports for the board.

In addition to the committee chair’s responsibilities, all board members are expected to:

    • Possess a commitment to the mission of Leaders of Today and Tomorrow.
    • Willing to develop, maintain, and build a resource network for Twin Cities women and to call upon that network to help LOTT meet its goals.
    • Participate in creating strategic plans and implementing those plans
    • Serve on one of five committees - Executive, Governance, Resource Development, Communications, or Programming
    • Approve LOTT’s annual budget material business decisions; be informed of and meet all legal and fiduciary responsibilities.
    • Review outcomes, evaluate impact, and regularly measure performance and effectiveness.
    • Assist in identifying and recruiting other board members
    • Contribute to collaborative, inclusive, and generative discussion and decision-making
    • Review agendas and supporting materials before board and committee meetings
    • Support LOTT’s commitment to a diverse board, fellowship, and program that reflects the communities we serve
    • Actively engage in fundraising activities and contribute to LOTT each fiscal year through standalone or monthly recurring gifts. We have no minimum contribution requirement. Every gift is helpful and valued.

BOARD MEMBERS CAN EXPECT THAT LOTT WILL:

    • Help board members gain valuable leadership experience as a board member of a non-profit organization
    • Nurture and expand your network among Minneapolis-St. Paul Area women
    • Cultivate a transparent, courageous culture where we assume good intent and do what we say we’ll do
    • Celebrate your individual successes and our collective ones as we leverage activity into meaningful community contributions.
    • Value diversity in all its forms
    • Provide orientation for new board and committee members
    • Share agendas and materials with you at least 24 hours in advance of any meeting
    • End each meeting with clear expectations and assignments before the next meeting
    • Reimburse you for any approved expenses promptly
    • Strive to provide a safe and welcoming environment for all

    BOARD TERMS AND PARTICIPATION

    • The Program Committee Chair term is two years and is eligible for renewal for two additional terms, for a total of 6 years.
    • The Program Committee Chair may return to board service as at-large members, but their combined service may not exceed six consecutive years.
    • Board meetings occur up to 12 times per calendar year. The committee meeting schedule may vary.
