Nonprofit
NYC Volunteer & Donor Engagement Assistant — Maya's Hope
Details
Description
Location: NoMad, Manhattan
Commitment: 2–3 hours per week or every other week
Schedule: Weekdays, Monday–Thursday
In-person opportunity
Want to do something meaningful with a few hours of your week?
Maya's Hope is a small NYC-based nonprofit helping children with serious medical needs and disabilities in the Philippines and Ukraine.
We're looking for one or two reliable NYC volunteers who would like to work directly with our Founder and help us stay personally connected with the incredible community that makes our work possible.
This isn't a "sit in a room and stuff envelopes for hours" volunteer opportunity.
You might help us:
- Prepare handwritten thank-you notes and donor packages
- Create handmade cards for supporters who funded a child's surgery
- Prepare impact reports and special mailings
- Help with invitations and preparations for our annual NYC gala
- Organize donor materials and outreach projects
- Research potential supporters, partners and sponsors
- Help with occasional special projects that come up in a very small nonprofit
You'll also get a behind-the-scenes look at what it actually takes to run an international nonprofit from New York City.
Who we're looking for
You don't need nonprofit experience.
You do need to be:
- Reliable and organized
- Warm and thoughtful
- Comfortable working independently
- Detail-oriented
- Someone who follows through
- Genuinely interested in helping children
This is especially well suited for someone who is retired, works part-time or has a flexible weekday schedule and is looking for a meaningful way to contribute their time.
We're hoping to find someone who can become a consistent part of our little team, rather than someone looking for a one-time volunteer experience.
About Maya's Hope
Since 2010, Maya's Hope has worked to improve the lives of children in the Philippines and Ukraine. Our programs provide life-saving surgeries, medical care, therapy, humanitarian assistance and essential supplies to children and families who otherwise may not have access to them.
We're a very small organization, which means your help won't disappear into a large volunteer department.
You'll see what you're working on. You'll know why it matters. And you'll know the people you're helping.
Interested?
Please send us a short note telling us:
- Why Maya's Hope interests you.
- What your weekday availability generally looks like.
- Whether you're looking for a short-term opportunity or would be interested in volunteering consistently for at least 3–6 months.
We'd love to hear from you. ❤️
