    Description

Join the City of Ann Arbor Parks and Recreation Department in bringing A Walk in the Park: Costume Parade to life for local families. This cheerful outdoor event invites children ages 2–8 and their parent or guardian to walk the loop at Mary Beth Doyle Park, stopping along the way for treats and activities.

We are looking for volunteers to help staff stations throughout the event. Volunteer roles may include:

    • Assisting at the bubble station by refilling the bubble machine and keeping bubble dishes full
    • Helping facilitate a simple craft station
    • Monitoring the chalk station
    • Monitoring lawn games
    • Supporting the meet-a-character station by helping manage the line and giving the character space
    • Handing out treats at treat stations

Volunteers do not need to wear a costume, but costumes are encouraged if you have your own or would like to borrow one of our animal costumes.

This is a great opportunity for volunteers who enjoy working around young children and families, helping create a welcoming event atmosphere, and supporting community fun in the parks.

    Event Details

Volunteers may work individually or with a partner, and staff will assign stations at the beginning of the shift depending on the number of volunteers and groupings.

    What to wear/bring:

    • Closed-toe shoes and comfortable, weather-appropriate clothing. You will be outside for the duration of the event.
    • A reusable water bottle

    Additional Notes

    • Volunteers should dress for the weather and be comfortable outdoors.
    • Costumes are not required, but you are welcome to wear your own or borrow one of ours. Costumes must be family friendly; no masks or fake weapons please.
    • Each volunteer needs to register separately and can indicate if they would like to be stationed with other registered volunteers. We will do our best to try to keep small groups together, but it may be necessary to split up.
    • Station assignments will be organized by staff during check-in.
