    Description

    California Coast Classic Bike Tour - Camp Management & Luggage Truck

    The Arthritis Foundation’s California Coast Classic (CCC) Bike Tour takes place over 8 days, Sept 26-Oct 3. Its success depends on amazing, energetic, and hard-working volunteers.

    Overview

    Reliable and energetic volunteers to support our event by assisting with luggage handling. This role is essential to ensuring participants have a smooth, welcoming, and efficient arrival and departure experience. This position is needed for the full length of the tour.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Safely load, unload, and transport luggage between vehicles, storage areas, and designated locations.
    • Organize and track luggage to ensure accurate delivery.
    • Assist participants with questions or directions as needed.
    • Maintain a clean and orderly luggage drop-off and pick-up area.
    • Collaborate with event staff and other volunteers to ensure the timely movement of items.
    • Optional, not required: Drive a 26-foot truck to transport luggage or equipment between sites.

    Requirements

    • Ability to lift and carry up to 50-75 lbs repeatedly throughout the shift.
    • Good physical stamina and the ability to stand, walk, and lift for extended periods.
    • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain organization under pressure.
    • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow labeling/organization systems.
    • Comfortable working in fast-paced outdoor environments.
    • Friendly attitude and willingness to assist riders and staff as needed.
    • Optional, not required: Comfortable and able to drive a 26-foot truck, while navigating tight spaces and challenging roads (valid driver’s license required; clean driving record preferred).

    Time Commitment

    • Must be able to commit to arriving in San Francisco on Friday, September 25th
    • Daily schedules will vary, but should be flexible and willing to work 6-8 hour shifts.

    Training

    • Orientation and on-site training will be provided before the shift begins
    • Brief driving safety overview provided for volunteers operating the truck.
