    Women's Shelter: At-Shelter Laundry Support

    Support Women in Minneapolis as They Overcome Barriers to Housing

    At The Valiance, Agate’s Women’s Shelter in south Minneapolis, we provide 24-7, long-stay shelter where up to 64 guests have a safe place to eat, sleep, relax, and work with Agate staff to overcome barriers to housing.     As a volunteer, you can be part of the team that makes The Valiance a welcoming, comforting place where the women we serve feel safe and respected.

    Participation Requirements

    • Work independently
    • Interview with Agate team member(s)
    • Age 18+ years
    • Compassion, empathy, and patience for all human beings, regardless of housing status, mental health, or chemical health
    • Orientation and Training by Agate staff
    • Can’t have been an Agate program participant for the past 2 years

    What will volunteers do?

    At The Valiance we launder bed linens and our guests’ personal items. We have new, high-capacity washers and dryers that make this task easier. We are seeking volunteers who can make an ongoing, longer-term commitment to help with this task.

    Volunteers needed on any day of the week from:

    • 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM
    • 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM

    What will volunteers need to bring or wear?

    Nothing to bring but your good attitude and willingness to help! For what to wear - the shelter is always casual. Please refrain from offensive clothing.
