    SCAMbassadors Helping Fight Fraud in Marin, Sacramento, Contra Costa and Ventura Counites (CA)

    Calling Elder Justice Champions – are you ready to make a difference in your community?

    The California Elder justice Coalition is proudly partnering with AmeriCorps Seniors RSVP to help community members recognize, avoid, and report common frauds and scams with a team of volunteer Sc-Ambassadors.

    What You'll Do

      • Learn about the complex scam tactics used by transnational criminals and how to fight fraud in your own backyard
      • Share information on current fraud trends and prevention strategies at a location like library or community center
      • Answer basic questions and direct participants to trusted resources
      • Help build a safer, more informed community

    Topics May Include

      • Phone and text message scams
      • Email phishing and online fraud
      • Identity theft prevention
      • Romance and investment scams
      • Impersonation scams
      • Cybersecurity best practices

    We're Looking For Volunteers Who Are:

    ✔Approachable and knowledgeable

    ✔ Reliable and diligent

    ✔ Eager learner with a ‘we’ll figure it out together’ mindset

    Training & Support Provided

      • Resources & techniques to help potential victims
      • Scam prevention steps & response
      • Ongoing updates and peer support

    Program Requirements:

      • Sign up to be an AmeriCorps Seniors (age 55 or better) RSVP Volunteer with the California Elder Justice Coalition
      • Complete a federal background check and training program
      • Select a location to meet community members & help spread the word
      • Report hours served and participate in a team meetings via zoom
