    Description

Guadalupe County Advocates Needed for Nursing Home & Assisted Living Residents

Volunteers needed to serve as Ombudsmen for local nursing home and assisted living community residents.

The goal of the Ombudsman program is to ensure the best possible quality of life for all residents in Texas long-term care facilities. Ombudsmen help residents by providing information about resident rights and help identify additional resources both in and out of the facility.

Volunteer Ombudsman are assigned a long-term care facility in their area and become the advocate for all residents of that facility. Our volunteers make monthly visits in the facility, where the volunteer will talk with residents, family members, and guests to identify any complaints or problem. Then, the volunteer will work with those individuals and the staff to resolve these issues.

Certification is required to become a volunteer and we offer free virtual training with sessions held throughout the year! Our next session begins January 2026 (date TBD). Classes are held 2 evenings each week and run for 8 weeks.
