As a Medical Coordinator Volunteer, you will gain experience, learn about veterinary medicine and best practices for rescue organizations, make connections, and be part of a supportive team that cares deeply about saving dogs' lives.
This volunteer will manage the day-to-day vet visits and requirements for dogs in rescue in New York. This role requires frequent interactions with fosters and vet partners. This role will require access to e-mail and phone.
Impact: The Medical Coordinator Volunteer ensures Hearts & Bones' foster dogs are healthy, happy, and on track for their next chapter.
Compensation: Volunteer
Location: Remote with opportunity for in-person training if desired. Local candidates in the New York City area are preferred but open to volunteers anywhere.
Time Requirement: 5-10 hours per week. Specific hours are generally flexible; however, timely replies (by EOD) via e-mail or phone are important.
Reports To: Foster Program Manager
Works With: This position corresponds with the adoption team, foster team, and executive leadership team on a regular basis. Close interaction with HBR fosters, vets, and southern rescue team is required.
Skills/Required Qualifications: Must have excellent oral and written communication skills. Must be responsive and communicative. This role requires a positive and professional demeanor internally and externally. Looking for a volunteer with a tenacious, positive attitude who is willing to learn as they go. Medical knowledge is a plus but not required.
